Salvation Centre Cambodia (SCC)

SCC is a Cambodian non-profit, Non Government Organisation (NGO) established in 1994 to respond to the urgent need of Cambodian people for education, care and support relating to HIV/AIDS. SCC works with Buddhist monks to implement HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities and has been able to improve the lives of many people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS, especially orphans and vulnerable children.

SCC's Objectives

1- To consolidate a pagoda-based network of Buddhist Monks & Nuns providing HIV prevention education and AIDS care, as well as responding to the stigma and discrimination that is often associated with HIV/AIDS.

2 - To respond to the needs of orphans and vulnerable children with improved care and support.

3 - To work closely with other HIV/AIDS organizations and within the Cambodian national HIV/AIDS strategies in order to strengthen the national, and SCC's response to HIV/AIDS.

4 - To strengthen SCC’s staff and organizational capacity to ensure that its activities are undertaken in an efficient and sustainable way.

Cambodia is one of the countries in Asia most severely affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic, with a prevalence rate of approximately 2.6%.

Currently, it is estimated that Cambodia has over 160,000 people living with HIV/AIDS and more than 60,000 orphans because of the disease .
