In response to the need for income generation for impoverished people living with HIV/AIDS,as well as for environmental education focused on encouraging recycling, Cambodian Volunteers for Community Development (CVCD) along with Salvation Centre Cambodia (SCC) initiated 'positivepaper’—a recycled paper project.

We produce paper products that are handmade from recycled waste paper. The waste paper is donated by various organizations and schools in Phnom Penh. Previously, the waste paper from these offices was not recycled, and sometimes even burnt. Our products therefore help the environment by reducing impact on forests as well as sending a general message about recycling. Where possible we use natural dyes and additives.

Our paper products are providing a source of income for people living with HIV/AIDS. CVCD-SCC provided training in papermaking and ideas for products to this community. Profits from the sales of our paper products will be directed back to the community in the form of rice, transportation to free medical facilities and a cash income. The project can be self sustainable through product sales.

Our products are handmade with recycled paper by a group of Cambodians living with HIV/AIDS. By purchasing these products you are helping provide this group with a healthier and more dignified alternative to begging on the streets or sorting through rubbish in order to survive.
